Marmosets Nursery Room
Welcome to Marmosets Nursery, one of our carefully designed nursery rooms at Monkspath School. Our Marmosets room is a warm, welcoming space where young learners enjoy an exciting journey with us. It provides a rich, stimulating environment that supports all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), ensuring children develop the confidence, curiosity and skills they need to thrive.
Our preferred attendance model for children aged 3+ (who will join Reception year group in the following academic year) is daily morning or afternoon sessions with any additional requirements booked around this. This supports routines, friendships, and learning continuity. However, we are happy to discuss and agree alternative patterns to suit individual needs.
Applications for a place can be made here.
A Typical Day in Marmosets
Each day in Marmosets is full of discovery, laughter and purposeful play. Our experienced Early Years team thoughtfully plan a balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities that spark imagination and build the foundations for lifelong learning.
Here are just some of the experiences your child might enjoy:
- Creative exploration – painting, playdough, collage, and junk modelling to develop fine motor skills and express ideas.
- Sensory play – sand, water, foam, and natural materials help children investigate textures, pour, scoop, and experiment.
- Role play and small world – dressing up, home corner, dinosaurs, farms and vehicles build communication, imagination and social skills.
- Storytime and song time – daily storytelling and singing to develop language, listening and a love of books.
- Outdoor learning – active play, den building, gardening, climbing and wheeled toys build physical skills and support well-being.
- Construction and problem-solving – using blocks, loose parts, puzzles and games to develop mathematical thinking and teamwork.
- Mark making and early writing – chalking outside, painting with water, drawing, writing letters in shaving foam – laying the groundwork for literacy.
- Snack and mealtimes – social, unhurried times where children develop independence, healthy habits and lovely manners.

Parent Partnership
At Monkspath, we believe that a strong partnership between school and home is key to every child’s success—especially in the Early Years. In line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework, we recognise parents and carers as a child’s first and most important educators.
We work closely with families to ensure every child feels supported, understood, and valued. Through open communication, shared learning experiences, and a welcoming environment, we build trusting relationships that help children thrive.
Together, we create a consistent and nurturing foundation for each child’s development and learning journey.
How We Work in Partnership with Parents:
We offer a range of opportunities for parents and carers to get involved, including:
- Induction Events – to help you and your child settle into school life
- Curriculum Sessions – to give insight into what and how your child is learning
- Open Afternoons – a chance to visit the classroom and celebrate your child’s progress
