Little Chimps
Welcome to Little Chimps - A Nurturing Start for Children Aged 2-3
We understand that choosing the right early years setting is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. At Little Chimps, we’re here to offer you peace of mind, knowing your child is safe, happy, and thriving in a warm, caring environment.
Our provision welcomes children from their 2nd birthday and often marks the beginning of their learning journey through Monkspath School, right up to Year 6. We are proud to offer a well-established, high-quality setting led by experienced, fully qualified staff who are passionate about early childhood development.
A Safe and Stimulating Environment
At Little Chimps, your child will be supported in all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with a strong focus on:
- Communication and Language
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Physical Development
Our curriculum is play-based and carefully balanced between adult-guided and child-initiated activities. Children are encouraged to explore, imagine, and learn through purposeful play, including:
- Messy play, arts and crafts, and sensory exploration
- Role play and storytelling to build language and imagination
- Games and activities that support memory, problem-solving, and early maths
- Outdoor play to develop physical confidence and coordination
Individual Care and Support
Each child is assigned a Key Person who builds a strong, trusting relationship with both the child and their family. This ensures consistent care, tailored learning experiences, and regular communication about your child’s progress and well-being.
We support children in developing independence through:
- Self-care routines such as feeding and toileting
- Social interaction and making friendships
- Learning to express themselves and manage emotions
Healthy Routines and Inclusive Practice
We provide a nutritious daily menu including breakfast, a hot lunch, and light tea, with fresh fruit and drinks available throughout the day. We cater for all dietary needs, including allergies and vegetarian options.
Our daily routines are thoughtfully planned to give children a sense of security and belonging, while offering flexibility to meet individual needs. We are fully inclusive and experienced in supporting children with additional needs.
Preparing for the Next Step
Little Chimps lays the foundation for a smooth transition into our Marmosets Nursery Room from either the September or Easter following their 3rd birthday (whichever comes first). Our aim is for every child to leave Little Chimps feeling confident, independent, and ready for the next stage of their learning journey.

Progress Check at Age 2
A two-year-old check, also known as the two-year progress check or the two-year review, is a routine assessment of a child's development between 24 and 36 months of age. It is a statutory requirement in the UK, outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. The check focuses on the three prime areas of learning and development:
- personal, social and emotional development
- physical development
- communication and language.
The aim is to identify any areas where the child is progressing well and areas where they might need extra support.
